Sweet Recipe to Solving Problems :-)

This came from Prezi, an online tool for creating very cool presentations. :)
I might try to create a presentation on how to cook no-bake lasagna (thanks Mic for the recipe!) using this tool.
As a sample, enjoy this presentation! :)

Cooking Day With Micmic :)

At last! A cooking buddy! :)
I was really excited as the day began yesterday because my good friend Micmic and I had previously planned to cook in their house. :) He would teach me how to cook lasagna (the shortcut version and without needing an oven), and Caesar salad (the shortcut version also). So we agreed to meet at SM Hypermart Pasig first to buy the ingredients, then go to their place at Valle Verde 5. Being an early bird that I was, I arrived 15 minutes before our meeting time, and damn, I was very ecstatic to see all the veggies, fishes, and fruits Hypermart had to offer! My eyes were feasting on the array of colors! :) Also, I saw veggies I never knew existed, and to top it all, very weird-looking veggies, too! :D I even had to call my boyfriend just to tell him the colorful veggies and to shop there later that day. :)

The fresh salad garden section of Hypermart Pasig. :) I would like to applaud them for such a collection, theirs had the most variety (so far) from all the Hypermarts I had seen. :)

It's not what you think it is! hahaha. :D This is a butternut squash. It's my first time to see this odd-shaped veggie, I didn't even know it existed until then. Must try one... *evil grin* ^___^

More butternut squashes! :) I also saw a sorta-giant-garlic veggie. I think it's squash too but I didn't see the name. :D

Sweet beets! :)

Big, fat radishes. :D

Mini cucumber. :) My good friend Edgie and I had an inside joke about the pronunciation of cucumber: it's pronunciation KA-KAM-BER. :D I dunno, but it's hilarious for both of us. :D

Big salad tomatoes and tomatolets! :D

This is nice, really nice. :) Green and golden Zucchini. :D

Green Capsicum, green and red Jalapeños, iceberg lettuce! :) It was rare seeing Jalapeños here.

Japanese cucumber and red cabbage. :)

Fennel and Swiss Chard. I haven't tried both of them. :p

One of my faves, Butterhead lettuce. :)

And finally, red coral lettuce and green ice lettuce. :) Micmic called them "curly lettuce". :D
After secretly taking pictures of veggies (yes, I instantly became a veggie stalker that time), Micmic arrived and we then started shopping for the ingredients. Some weird and unique things we saw were the shrimp-eating-fishie and humongous mushroom:

It's nice that Hypermart dry market exists: I really don't like wet markets. :p I've always hated the feeling of walking on dirty ground and those mud scattering all over my white socks and legs. Anyway, after shopping for ingredients, we went back to their home and started the fight! :D

The Contenders:

Ingredients

and the cooks: Micmic and I :D

Micmic was really up to fight, haha! :D Anyway we successfully created our masterpieces:

Yummmmmm!!!! :D

Caesar salad without the dressing and Parmesan cheese. :)

Four layers of Bechamel and beef! :)

The "lataks" or excess ingredients in English. :D We also tried to arrange them. Still nice. :)
Whew! What a day! :) We had a blast. I hope there will be more cooking sessions to come. :) For the procedure on cooking shortcut versions of lasagna and Caesar salad, I'll just post them in a separate entry. :)
Tabemashou! :)

Migraine!!!

Uh-oh. :(
And like this picture, I have the urge to squeeze my head using the C-Clamp.
This is bad.
Very bad, indeed.
I need to sleep this one out.
Luckily, I only have to work for 5.26 hours today to complete my work hours for this cut-off (I already rendered 74.74 hours out of 80 hours).
And another fortunate event, this weekend is a long one (Fri to Sun) because of Eid'l Fitr or end of Ramadan to be celebrated tomorrow, 10th of September.
Thank goodness for that.
Anyway, I will take a nap now to ease some of the pain.
Squeeze...
Squeeze...

She is a very loyal and jolly dog.

When You Run Out of Everything Else...

I'm taking a breather for 10 minutes.
I've been creating a set of coding guidelines for my new project, and it is loooooooong.
Hopefully, other projects will be able to use it as well.
My to-do list is piling up. Ugh.

Well, as the post it says, "When you run out of everything else, have faith."

So have me... ;-)

On the Road to Becoming Healthy and Fit: Yoga

I just did Hot Flow Yoga at Fitness First, and I realized 3 things:

1. Flexibility is not proportional to body fat nor built, it really isn't! Most of the people in my yoga class have larger built than mine, some of them "healthier", and damn, they CAN flex their bodies really well. My gulay! I ended up like a "lantang gulay" by the end of the class, all sweaty and lousy.

2. I am NOT flexible. Period. But having done all the impossible stretches, lunges, three-legged dog, warrior position, etc. etc., I felt rejuvenated. My body kept sweating; my back, even though it hurt, was stretched far beyond its capabilities (which was good for my scoliosis); I felt that my arms and legs strengthened a little in doing those watchamacallit positions. I relaxed after the routine. My whole body did. And it was a blast. ;-)

3. I won't be able to feel my body tomorrow.

Hello, Android ^___^

Welcome to the world of Android. :)
I feel that I'll be a workaholic for this project.
Very, very interesting.
So much to learn. I need to self-study for the following:
- Java ( I haven'y had any experience on this programming language, but it has some similarities with C#)
- Android OS, its stacks and framework
- Apache
- OOA&D for good programming practices
Hopefully I can fit in all of these in my schedule.

And for you, Android, I will definitely conquer your world. ;-)

On Dancing ;-)

I've never had any talent in dancing or singing or anything with regards to music. But it doesn't mean I don't enjoy music, I really do, in fact, I am a music lover.

So when I watched two of the routines in So You Think You Can Dance, which were No Air danced by Katee and Joshua and Bleeding Love danced by Mark and Chelsie, I was astounded by the talents they got. From then on, I started downloading SYTYCD from season 1 (which tested my patience since net in the condo and at home were very slow and the files were very large), and voila! I was an addict! ;-D

It's really an amazing experience watching the contestants' movements, different styles and techniques, and especially their improvements and challenges they overcomed as the competition progressed. It literally moved me. At many points, I got teary-eyed because of the passion these dancers were pouring on their routines, their love from what they were doing was very evident, and their personal and professional experiences are manifested in every act they made in the stage. They moved me, feeling the connection between the artist and a viewer. Even though I wasn't in that same stage and crowd, I felt their presence within me, and I was very honored to witness that kind of beautiful creation. ;-)

To all dancers out there, not only to SYTYCD dancers, I bow my head to all of you.

Downloading SYTYCD continues... ;-)

On Dreams

Since I'm having a hard time sleeping because of my left hip, yes, I'm blogging.

I found this post-it note from one of my fave links, wherein this site provides a list of post-it notes (with cool sketches) about "things we forget", which are left in public places for everyone to see and ponder.

"Follow your dreams" has been a popular line from a quotation or a song, and from those input, I always thought that it was good to follow your dreams. But on seeing thing image, I think it makes better sense to "chase" your dreams rather than just "follow" them. Both are positive outtakes on pursuing his or her dream. However, "chase" is a much more proactive word than "follow" which is a bit passive. ;-)

Anyway...as much as I want to continue blogging, my hip really hurts. :-( I really need to rest since I'll be going to the dentist in six hours...sleep now, Faith. ;-)

I Write Like...

I write like
Gertrude Stein

I Write Like by Mémoires, Mac journal software. Analyze your writing!

So I write like her. I browsed through her works, I don't remember reading any of them.
Hmm... curious indeed. :-)
I might read them someday. ;-)

On Losing Focus :-(

I'm losing my focus again. I think it's the weather. I'm always sleepy. Like a sloth, I don't wanna move because it's too hot. -__-

But I need to start studying Java. Gotta prepare for my upcoming work, especially if I'll be assigned to a one-man-team project.

Focus.
Focus.
Focus.
(Say this to myself a hundred times)

My Ken also needs a push, he should really get the certification before the year ends.

GOTTA FOCUS!

On Taking a New Path ;-)

Can't sleep yet. Anxious? Kinda. Pressured? Maybe. Nervous? A li'l. Excited? Definitely. ;-)

I'm about to go through a new phase in my career within a week, which makes me sleep-deprived in the past few days. My friend and former college block mate, Nice, has given me a hunch that I'll be assigned to a new project which is related to Android mobile phones! ;-) I'm feeling kinda anxious and maybe pressured since most of the new projects are one-man teams, which will then left me all the responsibilities of my project-to-be. A li'l nervous because of the new faces. Nevertheless, I'm totally excited because of the new technical stuff I'll learn, new people to work with, and new experiences to gain.

I hope everything will be fine.
I hope I can tell someday, "All was well." :-)
Aja! :-)

My New Shoelaces :-)

Got a new pair of checkered shoelaces for my chucks..love them! :)

Reminds me of simple things in life that can make me really happy and paint a smile in my face. ;-)

Two Roots Down, One More to Kill

I never thought I would feel that much pain because of my tooth. Good thing my dentist was sympathetic and sensitive enough to postpone killing the last root. Instead, she applied some medicine that would slowly kill the root, and then when it's not that sensitive, she could continue killing the root and clean the root canal. Ugh.

Someday, when I have my own kiddies, I'll terrorize them so they will take care their teeth (even the baby teeth), and going to the dentist every six months is a must!
Hope it'll end well for my last root this coming Wednesday.

Fingers crossed. XXX
